For more than 6 decades, Carole Rae Watanabe been creating, exploring, teaching, and inspiring others. Her artistic journey has taken her around the world, with exhibitions and studies in places including France, Japan, Guatemala, Switzerland, and throughout the United States.

Her work has evolved across painting, textiles, mosaics, sculpture, and mixed media. Always guided by curiosity and a love of creative expression.

Creating, Teaching & Sharing


Teaching has always been at the heart of Carole's artistic life. She spent 28 years directing L'Art Vivant, her art school in France, and later founded Art Heaven at Chez La Vie in Sebastopol, where she continues to teach, create, and welcome others into her studio.

Today, Carole's work continues to grow through painting, workshops, gatherings, and her connection with fellow artists and collectors.
